Who we are
hinoki supplements your primary care team with a focus on lifestyle medicine, prevention, longevity, and performance.
We specialize in keeping you healthy. We are your source of evidence-based medicine using peer-reviewed literature to help you sort through the latest trends and find what will benefit you.
We are local to Portland and work with a limited number of people by design. This lets us spend time getting to know you and develop a personalized plan to help you feel your best.
Who we aren’t
The wellness sphere is constantly spinning new supplements and gadgets to buy. We do not sell goods in our clinic. We value transparency and this allows us to avoid biases when recommending interventions for you.
Additionally, we know it can be frustrating to get appointments with your primary care provider. And it can feel rushed when you are there. We augment their services with a specialization in lifestyle and preventative medicine. We are not a primary care clinic and recommend that everyone have access to a primary care provider.
Stephen Werner, DO
Dr. Stephen Werner is a physician practicing in Portland, Oregon and licensed with the Oregon Medical Board. He completed his training in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He moved to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to family and the outdoor beauty of Oregon.
Dr. Werner has expertise in the full spectrum of acute and chronic diseases. While working with patients in the end-stages of disease, he realized that the current healthcare model focuses on diagnosis and treatment. It settles for the ever rising tide of chronic illness and decreases in life-expectancy. Not satisfied with that trajectory for his patients, he grew his passion in prevention and reversal of chronic diseases. Focusing on wellness, instead of illness.
Dr. Werner is known to be empathetic and encouraging. He is often heard making quirky aphorisms like “don’t fight science,” and “can I add greens to that?” He enjoys skiing, basketball, and playing with his Bernese Mountain dog, Bayou, (who can sometimes be found sleeping in clinic).
